Eagledale Community Center

Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center finally has been able
to answer Eagledale’s need for a community center.
The doors opened in May to serve senior citizens and
children at Northwest United Methodist Church’s food
pantry.  This month the center plans to offer a youth
summer camp program, thus relieving Covenant
Baptist Church of this Mary Rigg service.
The task force is still working the kinks out of where to
begin because the community center’s memorandum
of understanding was recently signed.  The Methodist
Church still retains property ownership while Mary
Rigg, through the United Way’s financial assistant, will
pay for the cosmetic improvements and utilities.  The
agreement also made a provision for the community
center to takeover the church’s food pantry
operations.
Social Security TRUTH FORUM
Concerned individuals of any age and their families are invited
to attend the upcoming Social Security TRUTH FORUM.  The
forum will be held on Monday, June 6th at North United
Methodist Church, 3808 N. Meridian Street in Indianapolis.
Coffee and sign-in will be at 9am with the forum starting at 9:
30am.

For 70 years, Social Security has done its job, and done it well.
Americans have been provided with social insurance—
protection from poverty should they become disabled, lose a
spouse or parent, or retire with no pension.

At the forum, you can learn why young families need Social
Security just as much as older citizens; why taking money out of
Social Security is the worst thing we can do; and what you can
do to ensure Social Security can keep doing its job for
generations to come.

The forum is being sponsored by United Senior Action of
Indiana, Indianapolis Resource Center for Independent Living,
Indian Institute for Working Families (ICHHI), Alliance for Retired
Americans and AARP Indiana.
