Dear Girl Scout Troop 162, I wanted to write you girls a letter and let you know how lucky I am to not only be an American but also to be from Indiana. I just received the boxes of cookies that you sent me. I don’t know how to thank you, so many cookies and only one of me! Not to worry...I shared (most of) them. It is always nice to get mail or boxes from home, but your boxes were the best. There are only a few things that instantly remind you home; baseball, apple pie, and most certainly Girl Scout Cookies. Since there was no possible way that I could eat all of the cookies, I decided to share them with some of my new friends here in Afghanistan. I work with the Afghanistan National Army. We are working together to help rebuild Afghanistan after many years of war.
The soldiers I work with are great. We are learning a lot from each other, and I enjoy what we are doing here. They have never had Girl Scout Cookies, so I shared the cookies with them.
They also wanted me to thank each of you for your hard work to get us the best cookies in the world. I hope you are all doing well in school and I hope that you all have a good summer. Thank you again so very much for your generosity.
Sincerely, Staff Sergeant Joe Roberts
