SENIOR PASTOR’S REPORT
Well folks, it’s hard to believe, but summer is fading fast. Which means, among other things, that
RALLY DAY will soon be here along with opportunities to get back in the swing of things. The theme
for Rally Day will be, “Shaped to Serve.”
Let me encourage you to be a part of Wesley’s choir. Lisa (or new Director of Music) is energetic,
organized, talented, and experienced in leading and conducting choirs and musicals. If you have any
love for music, want to add to the worship, are interested in learning , or just want to improve your
singing voice, choir is for you.
We’ll will also be offering Bible Studies again. I’ll be leading Christianity & World Religions and
Christianity’s Family Ties on Sunday Mornings (Rev. Peggy will offer the same series on Wednesday
afternoons as well). And on Tuesday evenings we will be holding our New Membership Classes, in
which we celebrate Faith, Baptism, and Confirmation in the first course, and then Methodism,
Discipleship, and Membership in the second course. These classes are new in the sense that they are
for new members. New, also, in the sense that we’ve never had membership classes quite like this
before. I hope you can join in!
In Christ’s love,
Pastor Fred Haywood

ASSOCIATE PASTOR “Peggy’s ramblings”
September reminds us that fall is on its way. Recently I caught a report on television from the Farmer’s Almanac that said this winter would be
a very bad one. How much do we prepare for the winter that is to come? The squirrels collect nuts and store them so they won’t go hungry.
Some critters burrow in the ground or find a cave to hibernate in. The wool or fur on some critters increases. Most people forget about
insulating will until they get a ridiculous heating bill and then have trouble paying it. Sometimes we humans forget to prepare for the future.
The biggest preparation we need to make is to make sure we spiritually are tightly insulated with God’s love and forgiveness. Winter comes
every year. Some of us are nearing life’s winter. Be prepared!
